THE BEST HOTELS IN POSITANO – WITH VIEWS!

best hotels in positano

Who doesn’t dream of visiting the Amalfi Coast, staying in a hotel with the iconic Positano views and eating pizza and pasta all day? I sure do! I finally got to make my dream a reality last year for my birthday, when I spent 4 days exploring all the cute little towns and eating my weight in gelato. It is definitely one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, and because of this they receive a LOT of tourism. I highly recommend booking as far in advance as possible because all the pretty hotels with views sell out months in advance. So to help you with that, after a lot of research, I came up with this list of the best hotels in Positano.

We truly believe that choosing the right hotel can add a lot of value to a trip. We love to talk about the incredible places we’ve stayed at, like this bamboo house in Bali overlooking the jungle, or seeing the Northern Lights from a glass igloo in Finland.

It’s worth mentioning that even though the Amalfi Coast is very popular, there are accommodations for all budgets. The cheapest and nicest ones are almost always sold out though, so if you are looking for a budget accommodation in Positano I suggest you plan and book at least 4 months in advance.

That said, I believe Positano is a place worth the splurge. I mean, hotels in Positano with a pool and a view?! Amazing Amalfi Coast Villas overlooking the Mediterranean?! I’m sold!! So this list is not about budgets, but of all the best hotels in Positano that have amazing dreamy views.

WHERE TO STAY IN POSITANO

The most common asked question I get is when is the best month to visit the Amalfi Coast? I would highly encourage to avoid the summer months of July & August. As it is a very popular destination, it gets incredibly packed, meaning hotels prices go up, it’s difficult to get tables in restaurants, boats are always sold out if you want to do a cruise, and even just walking around Positano is not as nice because of the crowds. If you can, visit during May or late September, when weather is still great and most of the tourists are gone.

Another frequently asked question is which is the best town to stay in Amalfi Coast? While they are all beautiful and charming, I do recommend staying in Positano. Especially if you don’t have a car, Positano is the most convenient town as you can walk everywhere, there are lots of restaurants and you can rent a scooter if you want to visit the other towns.

So if you are wondering where to stay in Amalfi Coast, keep reading this list to find out about the best hotels in Positano with views!

LE SIRENUSE

Without a doubt, the most iconic hotel in Positano had to be at the top of this list. Opened in 1951, when four siblings decided to turn their summer house into a charming hotel overlooking the bay. Today is considered one of Italy’s leading luxury hotels, retaining an intimate and private atmosphere.

Perched above the sea, the rooms, terraces and restaurants are incredibly beautiful with an amazing view of the town. If you are not staying here there’s also the possibility of visiting for dinner.

HOTEL POSEIDON

Another one of my favorites (at a much affordable rate!), is Hotel Poseidon. Located on the opposite side of the hill from Le Sirenuse, the views are also spectacular. Once a beautiful mediterranean villa in the heart of Positano, it was reconverted into a hotel while maintaining it’s charm and harmony with Positano’s image. Their pool is also picture perfect overlooking the Mediterranean, and their restaurant (using only local ingredients!) is one of my favorite in town.

Most of the rooms have their own private terrace; and the best part is that they have a vintage car that guest can use to drive around town. It’s just so iconic!

VILLA TREVILLE

This amazing hotel is a 1920s villa that was later refurbished and converted into a boutique hotel. Surrounded by lush gardens and secluded terraces, the scenery is so beautiful. Located on a cliff in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, it has one of the best views in town. The gardens and stairs lead down to a private seaside sundeck with a jetty, where clients can make use of the hotel’s boat.

The rooms have private balconies and plunge pools and, while it retains the ambiance of a residence, it provides a 5* service. With it’s private beach, the mesmerizing seaside views, and it’s beautiful gardens you can’t go wrong staying here. Within a short 15 minute walk from the centre of Positano, this is definitely one of the best hotels in the area.

GRAND HOTEL CONVENTO DI AMALFI

This 5-star luxury hotel is located in a historic 13th century monastery, perched on a cliff top 80 meters above the sea level, in a unique location featuring unparalleled views over the Amalfi Coast. Carefully refurbished using local materials and attention to each detail, the hotel has 53 rooms ranging from Superior to Presidential Suites, with views and balcony or terrace.

The Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi also includes two restaurants (one with outdoor terrace for al fresco dinners). From the infinity pool,  (which is heated and can be used all-year-round) guests can enjoy an amazing view over the Amalfi port and the coastline. Definitely the most unique place to stay at in the Amalfi Coast and one of the best hotels in Positano.

BELMOND HOTEL CARUSO

Set on a cliff edge 1,000ft above sea level, Belmond Hotel Caruso is not located in Positano; but it had to be on this list since it has one of the most amazing views of the Amalfi Coast I’ve seen. Located in Ravello, a little mountain town behind Positano; the former 11th century palace is as luxurious as it can get.

The hotel offers complimentary boat excursions along the coasts for its guests. They also have a free shuttle to Amalfi and Positano. It has one of the best restaurants of the area, along with an infinity swimming pool that looks unbelievable. It will definitely be an unforgettable vacation in the Amalfi Coast.

GUESTHOUSE PUNTA RE

Now this is my best kept secret. If you follow me on instagram I’m sure you have seen my dreamy video of this terrace in Positano. After I uploaded it I got a million people asking me for the name of the hotel! I found this place because I wanted a similar view as Le Sirenuse that I could actually afford. We got a room here last minute. A typical Positanese house, just renovated in the heart of Positano! It only has 3 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, a shared kitchen and the terrace.

The rooms are big and spacious, and the hotel is located 3 minutes down the road from Le Sirenuse. Located just in the centre, you can walk everywhere. All rates include breakfast at a nearby cute cafe. Buy some wine and spend sunset by the terrace and you’ll understand why Punta Re is one of the best hotels in Positano.
